Secrets of the Beehive weaves a spellbinding blend of introspective, spiritual, and global sounds, rooted in the progressive post-punk spirit of the ’80s. Founded in 2014 by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jason Winslade, the project began as a way to bring to life Pagan spirituals he first composed on a shruti box around festival fires, where he had been drumming for nearly 30 years.

Joined by guitarist Davis Krieg and bassist Brett Taylor in 2022, the trio creates immersive performances that often expand to include guest musicians on drums, strings, woodwinds, and even live dancers. Their music moves fluidly between hauntingly beautiful melodies and driving rhythms, drawing on traditions from around the world to create something both timeless and alive in the moment.

Secrets of the Beehive has graced stages across Chicago, from Montrose Saloon and Gallery Cabaret to Elastic Arts, Newport Theater, and Porchfest, as well as regional festivals like Faeries of the Forest. They are currently working on two full-length albums, Songs from the Fire and Hollow Earth, promising to capture the magic that has made them a standout in the city’s eclectic music scene.
