Season of the Shift: What Fall Teaches Us About Alignment

By Liz Ahearn | September 26, 2025

October always feels like a quiet invitation to realign.

The rush of summer fades, the light changes, and there’s a softness in the air that says: you don’t have to keep pushing—you can just be. We light candles again. We pour something a little warmer, a little richer. And we gather in closer.

This shift is everywhere at Picnic. The music moves indoors, the conversations deepen, and the wines start to reflect the season—earthy, textural, grounding. Orange wines feel right at home in October. They mirror the season with their color, but more than that, they feel like a bridge between light and dark, bright and bold. They’re transitional wines—just like this moment in the year.

I just returned from Oregon, where I had time to reflect, rest, and reconnect—with my family, with myself, and with the purpose that has always been at the center of Picnic: to offer a space where people feel cared for, seen, and connected.

That may sound simple, but I believe it’s radical right now. We live in a world that can feel chaotic and isolating. But we all need places where we can show up as we are—tired, joyful, overwhelmed, inspired—and be met with warmth and welcome. That’s what we strive for here.

Over the last few months, I’ve been writing more— on LinkedIn, and now as I make progress on my book. And the themes that keep rising to the surface are the same ones I see reflected at Picnic, especially in this season: alignment, intention, connection, and care.

So as we step into fall, I invite you to slow down with us. Come to a Thursday tasting. Join us for music on Friday nights. Sip something new. Share a story. Or just sit and let the moment hold you.

Because whether it’s a glass of wine, a quiet evening, or a conversation that lingers longer than you expected—it all matters. And you’re always welcome here.

With love and gratitude,
Liz
